Martin said that this trip would just be a little stroll round Loch Katrine. Yeah, right! It was 28   miles of torture. (YES 28 MILES!). I was exhausted. BUT it's a start on the road to fitness. To be fair, it wasn't all torture - it was an excellent day out.

Route details - not much to give - there is a private tarmaced road which runs on the east side of Loch Katrine. This runs all the way to Stronachlachar. (14 miles from the pier at the Aberfoyle/Callender road end). There are a couple of hills which would be easy going for the true professionals but for the amateur like me, hardish going - just get off and push! There is enough room to stop at the side of the road most of the way along.

Things to look out for - excellent views of the loch (of course), Ben Lomond to the west, Ben Venue and Ben A'an. There are also information boards placed along the loch which provides details of the surroundings.

Return is back the way you came or continue from Stronachlachar on the public road (B829) back to Aberfolye and then through the Dukes Pass (on the A821) to the start point. I haven't done this on the cycle (and I don't know the return mileage) BUT I have driven it and the Dukes Pass is all ups and downs and tight bends - not for the faint hearted!
