Pentland Hills Walk
This walk was done on 28/03/04. Getting to the start point
is easy - Follow the A702 to the Flotterstone Inn. Park in the car park at
the Visitor Centre which is approximately 200 yards beyond the Inn, on the
right hand side.
The route followed was as follows: follow the road North to
the top end of Glencorse Reservoir, turn sharp left and follow the road to
the top of Loganlea Reservior. Cross the burn at the top of the reservoir
(beside the house) and turn sharp left up the hill - follow the path at the
rear of the house. This takes you to the top of the saddle between Carnethy
Hill (on the left) and Scald Law (on the right). Scald Law was ignored,
being left for another day. Instead, we followed the wide ridge walk by
climbing Carnethy Hill then descending to the car park via Turnhouse Hill.
It was VERY windy at the top of these hills but the views
were worthwhile - Bass Rock to the East, Tinto (and beyond) to the West,
Fife (and beyond) to the North.
